I have many. many bonsai and I have yet to put one in a bigger pot. Anyway, if you are going to repot it make sure the new pot is shallow; about the same depth as the old one but longer. Only trim roots that are very thick or dead. Place a small mound of dirt in the spot you are going to put your plant and position the roots over this mound. Pack soil in around the the rest of the pot working it to make sure you do not leave air bubbles. Water the bonsai in good Then top up any areas of soil that have collapsed due to air escaping.
