I WANT TO BUY A BONSAI PLANT WHERE WOULD I GET IT AND AT WHAT COST?

Posted by Bonsai Care on Jan 12, 2009

CAN I BUY THEM ONLINE?

Here’s a site with online access for ordering. You’ll get an idea of fair prices, too.

Any garden centre will have bonsai.
In Australia they range in price from $25 to thousands.
The older the plant, the more you will pay.

If you go to Ebay and go to gardening you can get them online, sometimes from private sellers as well.

Specialty Bonsai stores will sell them, and they can cost hundreds of dollars for old and especially ornate ones. Such stores often sell starter kits as well, and they are usually very affordable, and they can advise on the easiest trees to grow. Look in your phone directory to see if there are any places in your area.

You can buy Bonsai online but I would suggest that you check out the dealer very carefully before doing so. And as for the “Bonsai” sold in stores don’t waste your time and money on them as they are often dead on arrival due to the fact that they get no real care in the store, and are mass produced for fast sale. One way to check the quality of these “Bonsai” is to tap the surface of the gravel it is displayed in. If its shiny and one solid piece then don’t buy the tree. Its been glued into it pot to look good and will not get water and air to its roots when watered! (= dead tree) Also check for drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.

Ebay has a huge selection of bonsai plants available online. This link will take you to their selection:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5336137415&toolid=10001&customid=&ext=bonsai+%28tree%2Ctrees%2Cplant%2Cplants%29&satitle=bonsai+%28tree%2Ctrees%2Cplant%2Cplants%29

I dont know if you have shopped with ebay before, but If you don’t already have an ebay account, you might want to consider getting one. You can get almost anything you can want on ebay and usually at better-than-retail prices! Just make sure you buy from a seller with a 99% or better rating. I have never had any problem as long as I have followed those guidelines.
Good luck!
