I have grown bonsai in the past and in my opinion you are making things very difficult for yourself trying to grow bonsai indoors. First off, growing plants in an artificially dwarfed way is tough on the plant and requires very careful management. Secondly, growing almost any plant indoors, but especially trees, is asking way too much of the plant. To do both things is expecting the impossible. All the best known and expert bonsai growers raise their trees out-doors. More light and better humidity, generally more natural. The trees are then taken into the house for short periods of time, say 2 or 3 weeks, for decoration. By all means try but it will be tricky. Finally, there are no special trees for indoors, they will all struggle to survive.

Any tree can be made into a Bonsai, but my favorite, and the easiest is a Banyan Tree, -though where you live might be too cold for that.
